Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Jasmine Harry

Blending Research, Rigor and Heart in Piano Education

We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on one of our extraordinary faculty members at the Centre for Musical Minds: Dr. Jasmine Harry, a passionate educator, researcher and advocate for neurodivergent learners.

In May 2025, Dr. Harry completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina, where she studied under esteemed pedagogues Dr. Sara Ernst and Dr. Omar Roy. Her dissertation explored narrative theory and musical meaning through Franz Liszt’s Dante Sonata, demonstrating her deep commitment to both intellectual rigor and expressive artistry.

But Dr. Harry’s primary teaching interests are just as impressive as her academic credentials. Her work focuses on piano pedagogy for neurodivergent students, especially those with ADHD, and she’s rapidly becoming a voice for inclusive, research-driven and human-centered music instruction.

“My goal is always to nurture thoughtful musicians and compassionate people,” says Dr. Harry. “Music is a lifelong companion, and I want my students to feel deeply connected to it in a way that supports who they are.”

A Teacher, Researcher, and Leader in the Field

In addition to her role at CMM, Dr. Harry serves as:

  • Manager of Representation and Teacher Education Initiatives at the Frances Clark Center
  • A contributor to the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP)
  • A published author, with upcoming features on rhythm apps and “Now & Then” artist profiles (Spring 2026)
  • A grant writer, recently securing funding for the Frances Clark Center’s first pop-up music education event in Trenton, NJ
  • A frequent national presenter on topics like ADHD, memorization, early childhood music and inclusive pedagogy

Her most recent presentation, “Mapping for Peak Performance: An ADHD Guide to Successful Memorization at the Piano,” was delivered in Summer 2025 and highlights how musical mapping can support memory in neurodivergent learners. She’s also presented for both MTNA and NCKP on eurhythmics, movement and rhythm strategies for students with ADHD.

A Rich and Diverse Musical Background

Dr. Harry brings a wide range of experience to her work at CMM. She holds:

  • A DMA in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina
  • A Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy from Michigan State University (with Young-Hyun Cho)
  • A Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Stetson University (with Edit Palmer)

Her collaborative work includes choirs, opera, chamber ensembles, and orchestras; from CoroRio in Mississippi to the University of South Carolina and Stetson University’s vocal and instrumental programs. She’s also served in leadership and teaching roles at the University of Memphis and Michigan State, earning full assistantships along the way.

At CMM: A Natural Fit for Our Vision

Dr. Harry is currently a Teaching Artist at the Centre for Musical Minds, where she brings her inclusive, thoughtful, and student-centered approach to every lesson. She’s particularly passionate about creating strategies that help students thrive, no matter their learning style.

We’re honored to have Dr. Jasmine Harry on our faculty and can’t wait for more families to experience the insight, warmth and brilliance she brings to our community.
