Ray Tamez

Ray has been playing guitar for twenty-four years and has enjoyed a career as a freelance musician, performing in a wide variety of genres and venues across the United States. He regularly performs solo repertoire for special events throughout Texas and is currently performing with Dallas singer/songwriter Rahim Quazi. In 2006, he collaborated with author John Phillip Santos is support of San Antonio Public Library's community reading program "1 Book. 1 San Antonio." He has performed in master classes for William Kanengiser, Judicael Perroy, Jason Vieaux, and David Mosqueda. His solo classical repertoire includes works by Agustin Barrios, Manuel Ponce, and Heitor Villa-Lobos, among others. He recently completed a Master of Music degree in guitar performance at SMU Meadows School of the Arts.

Ray's teaching experience includes several university positions as well as private lessons at the beginner through collegiate levels.
